Adding on to the list of questions that students need to tackle is sometimes the most complicated one of them all. Do I take the SAT or the ACT?

Well, what if that doesn’t have to be such a complicated choice to make?

In our previous post, we spoke about the differences between SAT and ACT. In this post, I would like to take this discussion further and help you decide which test would work best for you and how to prepare for them.

Step 1: Try a practice test

There are practice tests both for the SAT and ACT to help you decide which format works best for you. ACT has gone through quite a few changes in the latest version as well. You can give both the formats a try with these handy practice tests- ACT test prep / SAT test prep papers.

Step 2: Pick a test date

Make sure to give yourself at least 2-4 months to prep for the test as you register yourself for the next one.

Step 3: Start your prep

There are a lot of resources online to help you prepare for the tests. Pick the format that works best for you.

If you are looking to tackle the basic understanding of concepts, the format used in Khan Academy is a great place to begin. You can also supplement this with books as well as digital tests that are available on the SAT and ACT websites.

No matter which resource you pick, remember to be consistent and understand the basics as you build your skills.

Once you have the concepts in place, its time to build on time management skills and speed to get to the scores you are looking for!
